Our Story
Sabrosa Foods Inc. founder and CEO is Duane Thompson. As a collegiate football player, Duane found his team’s ritual of eating well known commercial store brand tomato based salsas before and after games caused him to have severe acid reflux and heartburn. In response to the problem he began working on a “No Acid Reflux” “No Heartburn” salsa formulation using fresh produce from his grandmother’s garden. Duane’s efforts resulted in an all natural, great tasting, low acidic, slow roasted bell pepper salsa that uses very little tomato. The product was recognized in 2008 as “Best New Product” for the state of Virginia, awarded the esteemed Directors Choice Ribbon at the 2009 Virginia State Fair and endorsed by the United States Department of Agriculture under the esteemed “Virginia Finest” program.Nothing compares to harvesting fresh produce from the earth and offering natural products for healthy, balanced sustainable living.
